This how-to guide was written primarily out of a strong motivation to defy the enemies of Flash, including even (it now seems) Adobe, after I discovered that the latter had put the time bomb in Flash Player, which struck me (and many others) as incredibly unreasonable, unnecessary, authoritarian, callous, and maybe even immoral. When I first learned of the presence of the time bomb, I readily admit that I was very outraged over the fact that Adobe had deliberately chosen to render unusable freeware that had been legally downloaded and installed on people's computers, rather than simply declaring the thing end-of-life (EOL), ceasing to offer further updates and support, and encouraging users to voluntarily uninstall it from their systems, which is still reasonable.
